+ Is Luxury Vinyl the same as Linoleum?
No. Linoleum and Luxury Vinyl are both different types of flooring made from different materials. Luxury vinyl is a durable, waterproof flooring that has the look of hardwood or stone without a steep price tag.
LVT is a luxury vinyl that looks like stone or ceramic tile, with realistic natural colors and surface textures. LVP is luxury vinyl that looks like wood planks in everything from color to species. Surface textures often include the look of hand scraping or grain, which adds to the realistic look. Like solid hardwood, planks may be installed in herringbone, chevron, brick, diagonal and other patterns.
+ Engineered vs Solid Wood Flooring
Solid hardwood planks are made from a single, solid piece of real wood. Engineered wood layered wood floor made from thin slices of hardwood layered on top of a wood composite. Engineered wood is often more cost effective and versatile.
Solid hardwood flooring is not recommended for use in high moisture areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and basements. Engineered wood can hold up in areas that get light moisture. Depending on the selection, an engineered floor can bring all the best qualities of solid wood floors to a space in the house where you are not able to use solid hardwood but solid hardwood is more durable and can last a lifetime if properly cared for.
The choice between engineered wood and solid hardwood depends on lifestyle and what areas of your home you will be installing your flooring. At Lifestyle Flooring we will help you find the right flooring for your needs, whether it's solid hardwood, engineered wood or one of our waterproof flooring options.
